a hbo juntou duas paixões minhas. skateboarding e nyc. lançou um excelente documentário sobre skateboarding em nyc e chamou-lhe "the get by". faz parte de uma série de curtas para um programa chamado "how to make it in america". inclui nomes como anthony pappalardo, gino iannucci, jake johnson e o fotógrafo/realizador j strickland. vale a pena, como já é hábito das produções da hbo.

the times we had, some of it went well and some of it was hell

if you haven't heard of the bra boys, maybe you should. a true story of friendship, family, blood, sweat and tears. they are a group of surfing mates straight out of maroubra, a suburb in sydney, australia. they have a dark side to them, sure. linked to some wrong-doings and controversial events. and they have an insane side to them too. taking control of an insane reef break called cape solander, surfing it and renaming it to "ours". but what stands out is the camaraderie. the friendship. come hell or high water. because "you find out who your real friends are. they're the ones who stick around when everything goes wrong".

my bets were on her. and she did it. congrats to kathryn bigelow. first woman to win an oscar for best director. ever. the hurt locker. oscar for best film. and rightly so.

and the oscar goes to

10 nomeações para melhor filme este ano em vez dos usuais 5. desde 1943 que isto não acontecia. a escolha pode ser muita, mas para mim vai se reduzir a dois grandes filmes. de um ex-casal. ex-marido vs ex-mulher. ultra grande produção vs produção discreta. $2.2 mil milhões vs $16 milhões. james cameron vs kathryn bigelow. avatar vs the hurt locker. para mim o oscar ia para the hurt locker. mas penso que será avatar a levá-lo. pelo menos que a kathryn bigelow ganhe o oscar para melhor realizador/a. seria a primeira mulher a consegui-lo em toda a história da academia. e na véspera do dia internacional da mulher, seria uma justiça tardia mas justa.

beautiful short documentary from t.g. herrington on a beautiful new orleans character. mr. okra gives us a lesson on charisma, humility, simplicity and life. one of sundance's 2010 official selection. and rightly so. and as mr okra would say, "be nice or leave".
